There
are 10 sessions a term. The
session is mainly led by TSC’s two Artistic Directors, Christina
Michelle Richards
and Tim Riley. Guest tutors are invited in throughout the year.
The
session is an intensive, higher level form of training, a step up from
Seniors
in Centre Stages, concentrating on acting and singing. In
addition, workshops
will also be held in various styles of dance over the course of a year.
The
group work towards an annual showcase which also forms the basis of
their Musical Theatre examination. These are
Performance Arts Awards which count towards UCAS university
entrance points at this
level. They also have workshops throughout the year in
audition technique, different styles of theatre and different theatre
practitioners (this all supports GCSE and A - Level drama/performing
arts). The aim is that students develop an understanding of themselves
as performers with a repertoire specific to their own strengths.
Students are also given the chance to experience
backstage theatre by shadowing the Stage Centre's technical team during
Centre Stage's annual full-scale production in an external theatre.
