What are the benefits of attending a Performing Arts School or Theatre School?

All students at The Stage Centre in Cardiff, have the opportunity to take part in drama lessons, singing lessons and dance lessons. However it is the way in which we integrate the three main disciplines that we believe is at the core of our success as a performing arts school. (Please scroll down for more.)

No amount of singing lessons can enable a singer to reach their potential as a performer if they do not understand how to present themselves on a stage. No theatre school can produce a good actor unless that actor is able to move freely with a good

solid grounding in movement and dance. Similarly a dancer despite many years of dance lessons will never reach their full potential if they are unable to convey emotion convincingly with their face.

Shakespeare wrote “All the world’s a stage”. Whether your child is destined for full-time study at a theatre school or life in the city, you can be sure that the skills they will aquire through a thorough training at a performing arts school will stand them in good stead. Enjoying learning to act, dance and sing enables children to grow in confidence. A good performing arts student learns how to use their body language, facial expression and voice to portray confidence and authority when addressing an audience. These are the same skills that can be used in any professional situation. Skills for life!
